Sunny days,
after a long cold winter are very welcomed at this home! While it is still very cold out-30's-Tim is working on learing up the yard! The house is also getting spring cleaning. Those projects for home organization-shelf building and re-arranging "stuff" seem endless. But after almost 5 years, we have finally fund the right place for items..until we change our minds again, lol. The 16 yr old cat, Spanky, who came home to live with us in early March has adapted well. He loves the window seat upstairs, and the old wool sweater which became a cover for the pad. The warmth of the wool and the sun helps his old bones. He has for the most part whipped the dogs into shape, lol. They just avoid him. He has also won Tim over..really, Tim who wasn't keen on a cat in the house..looks for him, lol. They are becomming "buds"..he is MY cat, lol. So off to make supper, stitch on the table topper so I can start the Easter one--a new passion to stitch these things .. but also to knit bunnies for the mantle and socks to keep my feets warm. So in the mean time. Knit on!

And tomorrow is Valentine's Day...
so today we are taking a road trip to Lansing. For Tim to go to a train show or something..me, I am planning on just visiting with my sister, Myrna!!
Her Chef-of-a-Husband is making us supper or dinner, if it involves cloth napkins, lol.
Yesterday found us being slugs, yes we did not accomplish much if anything. Tim did clean out a few boxes from the basement, in preparation of having a Train Room.
Me, I finished a pair of wool socks and made great progress on a ruffled scarf! Perhaps the scarf will be finished today!
Challenge 2011 with my Stitchy Sisters had been good for me..I am wrapping up some of those pesky UFO's...7 of them to date! I would hate to find out how many more actually exist, lol.
But I intend to keep plugging away at them!
So off to prepare for a fun day away, in the meantime...

New Year
A new year and an odd numbered one! Those are always luckier for me! Wonder what luck filled things are around the corner??
Plan on having some time for me and getting my things organized. The way I want not how somebody thinks I should. (Single is not always bad.)
I didn't want to go anywhere for 3 whole days, but alas, I have to run out to get some yarn, a few books I did not get for Christmas and a new saw blade for the dh.
So later today it will be ME time...
Happy new year, to all and even with my complaints and rumblings, I am still very, very blessed.

And today finds me home from work...
stomach ache-y, anxiety, depression? Call it what you would, I call it a "mental health day". After almost 3 months of husband's unemployment, I need a break, I need to be ALONE. at least for a period of time longer than a couple of hours!!!
I don't have any plans, no car to run away in(van STILL in the shop-dh needs to call, maybe???)
and I wouldn't want to go out in the weather. Tho it just seems to be "flurries" today. I shall knit, sleep, chuck wood into the fire, and maybe do a couple of light chores. I might even find something to make for a nice comfort supper, like a stew or something.
But mostly I am just going to not be what I usually am. I am going to be free, totally alone.
So in the meantime...

Snow and more snow
oh and the blowing that comes with it...not nice Mother Nature.
In CA, my son is not going to complain about the 65° weather, good thing.
Talks with him last night of over 70 minutes this started at midnight, but don't worry, I had a 2 hour nap first, lol.
We talked of Christmas presents, Charlie's progress-thank you God.
Scarlett's first steps, why could she not have waited until Grandma could get there???
Just trying to get thru the days, DH's underemployment does still not seem to affect him, me, I am going to get white hair and panic attacks(hope not-Xanax worked once but it was always a hazy day, lol.)
Christmas is NOT going to be as home produced as I had originally planned, tough.
I will mostly knit for me this winter season. I have that huge carry on bag to knit for a "some-day" trip out to CA. It was to have been in Feb and all my carefully saved $ went for bills after the job change. Not fair, but life. So again I have started to put away what I can. I miss my son and his family. At this age, I should be able to go 2 times a year, for long weekends, right? Not at present, sigh.
So for now I am content to be in a warm, (mostly) and dry house. Still not decorated for Christmas Holiday, but it will be soon.

Winter really coming this time!
So WOOD-TV says. 3 days, up to 8+ inches of snow. Great and us with the all-wheel drive van in the shop! I need weight over the back wheels in the PT. Top Priority today?
Crafting and Decorating should be the theme of today! We need a little Christmas, right this very minute. Right now! I am thinking I should just wrap up those gifts sitting on the diningroom table, so that is done! Buck the wrapping as they come up the driveway tradition, lol. It would be a first. Maybe it's time to continue the change to simpler things, like planning ahead and being successful in the actual task, lol.

Day two of the month of December
and the fun just continues.
Busy, exhausting day yesterday from daybreak on. We took the van to work, seemed a smarter idea considering the weather. Well, it starts to choke. DH says should we just go on? (so it is true, he just ignores or refuses to address the bumpy parts of life, sigh.) No, take it to the mechanic.
The kind hearted mechanic takes us to work, great now I am stranded here all day, can't do the errand running I had planned-like that is anything new.
Another kind person-co-worker, takes us home. Van is now "in the bay"-so what does that mean, it means no one knows why this piece of crap that DH had to have in the first place is doing what it does when the tough needs to be going.
So we are home, a cool 53° in the house, tolerable, but one would actually need wood which is not unsplit logs to start a fire. I am good at firebuilding, but not that good. I do need atleast 3 pieces of kindling, you know kindling, right, small DRY sticks. So after an hour and a half I have a decent fire going. Going to be a long, long night.
And I was correct, it was.
So off to bed, hoping that Dec 2 will be kinder.
Wake up with a migraine. Great, I HAVE to be to work today. Take the meds and hope the nausea goes away-after 1.5 hours it still has not. But being a woman, I will tough it up.
The PT does not have the weight I had asked for over the wheels. I will have to take care of that this weekend. Tell me why again I got married? Certainly does not seem to be to acquire a help-mate. Tell me it will get better...lie to me if you will.
Off to find something warm to brave the day with...might even try out that new turquoise scarf I indulgently knit for myself!

And so November ends.
It finds me back to work on a daily basis. Co-worker not thinking I am working to her standard, sigh. Just do your thing and I will do mine, we are different people.
Purchased one of those super heater box things today from Menards. Probably should have waited, but it was $30 off! We don't plan on it for a substitute for propane, but an alternative or supplement. Even tho we have locked in a price, the $2.49/gallon seems alot, especially these days. And the winter stuff is not even in swing!
Yahoo weather says Wintry mix for tonight, I am hoping it is not correct. I have errands to do after work tomorrow, things to return, yarn to purchase and other important seasonal type tasks! As we will be riding to work together tomorrow, that will cut my time shorter as his patience is not the best unless he is getting something, sigh.
I went to bed early to get a full night's sleep, but after 3 hours, the hall light on and the tv from downstairs blaring(!), I am up. Not for long, but I just had to check my email, right? and put in a post here.
So back to dreamland I go, to sleep, perchance to dream, lol.

And how the time goes..
Knee was successfully replaced, downside? Now the right knee is in need of being switched out.
February found me in California, only for days, but I loved being with my Son and his family.
I miss them everyday. They are too far away.
We just finished the Thanksgiving holiday, this finds many sappy happy Christmas movies for the offering on DirecTv. Thank you!
I just light up the fireplace and knit and sleep alternately, lol.
I am thinking I should take up my blog again, it was a good release at times and I sure could use it now.
Tim is looking for a job...somedays. But he is getting w0od cut and stocking up!
Christmas open house is kaput for this year...I will miss it. Two years in a row, guess the tradition is now over. But this year I should be able to decorate. We will be having Tim's family over for Christmas dinner. Rachel and the grandchildren-those close by-will be here for lunch.
I don't like the idea of it being on a Saturday, somehow that feels like I will be cheated, lol.
I have loved the 4 day holiday this weekend.
All for now, in the mean time

A new month!`
Here is my post.
Busy with new job.....ok so it has been almost 1 year in my current position.
Waiting for knee replacement, that will be my October biggie.
Cleaned garage with DH for Labor Day-yes, it took all 3 days to do the 2 car side. sigh.
DH is painting outside before the cold weather hits......hope he finishes what he starts, sigh.
Other than that, just need to get the craft room organized and stuff ready lined up for recovery time.

Fair days coming to a close
and my entries, which won Blue Ribbons, will be returning home.
Hopefully I can catch a pic to post here so that those of you who did not make it to the fair in Ottawa county-Holland, can see too!
Finishing up some projects, of course I already realize I will run out of weekend before projects, lol.

It's true
I am suffering from cast-on-itis...........I "found" 2 orphan skeins of a denim yarn and have started a Feather and Fan shawl. Now I have heard this is a pattern long used, but I don't think I have ever done it.....it will be a long rectangular shawl, perfect for those cool times.
I am not so loving the long row, 283 stitches, but the pattern yes!
Today I have to get the camper back in the rotation, if I want to go camping, DH says we have to get the things done. I am on it, as soon as I get the flat of flowers in, as soon as I toss in another load of laundry , as soon as I get groceries from the store, as soon as I make lunch, as soon as I change the washer load to the dryer and put in another wash load, you get the picture.
So that is where my day is going, so much for a "day away from work". but it is only a 4 day work week!! So there is hope!

Electricity is
so nice. After the huge storms that came thru early Friday morning, we were finally restored to power at noon on Sunday.
Did not make the Peace Festival, and from what DH heard, not many were able to.
So I sold not a bag one.........oh, well. Christmas??
Maybe there will be another show in my future now that I have a small inventory!!
Off to work, DH is to go and pick up Kendra from camp, I would have liked to go, but no time off available. Never mind my work is caught up and ahead, sigh.....
Off to find things to do there today.
At least I do have a job, many don't

And
the beat goes on............and the beat goes on............on and on to the rhythm in my head...
So Saturday is the Peace Festival........in Fennville? and I have signed up to have an artist's booth.
Felted bags made from re-claimed wool..............wool sweaters purchased/found, torn apart, yarn washed, re-knit then machine felted.......insane.
But good therapy and cheap yarn, lol.
I have near 25 bags to take would like to sell them all!!
Only $15 each...a decent price not too cheap, not a twenty......good deal for all.
I have approximately 48 cents in cost in each bag...my time knitting was free.........knitting is something I would do anyway.
So I will try to post the results of my folly.........uh, venture and experience at the Peace Festival.

Yelling Cat and Barking Dogs
Why is it when I come home to a house were the Mister won't be home for a couple of hours, I am met with a Yelling Cat and 2 barking dogs...........usually feeding watering and unwatering them all takes care of it, but today?? NO! These durned dogs are barking and barking, that demanding bark. Not the dog alarm one, just the needy one...........
arggggh.
I am trying to ignore it as DGH is home now and HE can deal with it, the cat has quit yelling, just into everything.
Tomorrow I plan on getting the paperwork in for her operation, that should quieten things down.
Off to work on a Mom's Day present.............

Only 4 months and a couple of days...
since my last post, lol.
We survived the harsh winter here.
Boy did I knit socks!!
Just returned from our first camping in the travel trailer for 2009!!
Still lots of tweakin to do in there, but it will be "dreamy" soon enough.
Probably no camping in the month of May??
We will concentrate on getting the homestead cleaned and straightened
after the winter. Oh and stockpiling up those limbs and branches for next winter.

Cold and Blow and Snow
Ok I know it is December already, but honestly the Teens for temps!!???
Good thing the mister here has put up plenty of firewood
now just if we were home during the days to keep the fire
stoked!
It looks to be a pretty Christmas, all snowy and such.
Almost done with the gifts!!
or what will be gifts, lol.
Have to get that package out to CA...I wonder if it will make
it in time for NewYears??
Off to the gold mine, right.
Wish I could just sit and knit,
woke up with a migraine, that is why
I am still home and typing.
I miss my home alone time.
until next time...
